German Vegetarian Recipes

Most of German cuisine is centered around meat preparations, various types of sausages, and the like, making it very difficult to create vegetarian versions of many German main dishes. Very few can even be translated using meat substitutes, as much of the flavor profiles in German recipes are created by specific preparation, curing, or cooking of meat.

There are, however, many delicious German side dishes, stews, sauces, and bread products to enjoy, with staple ingredients like cabbage and potatoes finding their way into many dishes with fresh herbs, spices, and wine vinegars providing much of the seasoning.
