Lebanese Vegetarian Recipes
Lebanon boasts one of the Mediterranean's more dynamic cuisines, drawing influences from Europe, Africa, and the Arab world. Legumes (especially lentils), vegetables, and fruits are consumed in great quantities with an almost endless variety of combination. As elsewhere in the region, mezze (small appetizer dishes) are an important part of the food culture, offering the diner an amazing array of tasting choices.
Many Lebanese recipes are quite familiar in the Western world, such as hummus, falafel, tabouleh, and baba ghanoush. Residents tend to flavor their dishes very heavily with garlic, lemon, and olive oil, also relying on fresh herbs and spice blends to create uniquely Lebanese flavors.
